Course description:

The music technology BTEC is an opportunity to explore recording and production techniques used in the industry. The course covers a wide range of areas in music from DAW production and live sound to studio design and acoustics. You will develop knowledge about how to use various items of recording equipment whilst building skills in mixing and mastering techniques. Whichever avenue you’re interested in, you’ll be able to learn more with BTEC whilst also having the opportunity to perform in class and at a variety of concerts and events that we facilitate.

The course is graded through both internal and external assessment. External assessments will be set tasks which must be completed in a set amount of time, whereas internal assessments will be graded on demonstrations, presentations, write-ups, projects and case-studies.

What can I do with this qualification?

With this qualification, you can move into virtually any area in the music industry from studio production to live sound, even acoustic design. This BTEC carries the same amount of credit as a full A-level so it will assist you in applications to universities and colleges.
