OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Digital Media (Production)
Mr G Scarfe – gscarfe@sackvilleschool.org.uk
Our Level 3 Cambridge Technicals in Digital Media qualification is a balanced mix between externally assessed units (exams) and practical production units. It allows a practical student to engage in all aspects of media production, from pre-production through to post-production. Theory elements will be given a practical framework to allow learners to see the link behind such work in the practical context.
You must be able to work to tight deadlines and be genuinely committed to spending time outside of your timetabled hours on your productions – either planning and researching and filming a project, or hours spent in post-production editing your work.
We have a strong and growing equipment bank of resources such as Canon EOD 100D DSLR cameras, Velbon tripods, dolly, tracking equipment and Sony Vegas Pro17 editing software that enable our students to produce professional quality work.
Students will develop knowledge and skills that are applicable in a wide variety of work situations or on higher education courses. The Cambridge Technical in Digital Media focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that todays universities and employers demand.
Be prepared to hit the ground running! No previous camera / editing experience required as you will be taught from scratch.
Students study six units across a two-year period:
Unit 1: Products and Audience [EXAM]
Unit 2: Pre-production Planning [EXAM]
Unit 3: Create a Media Product
Unit 20: Advertising for Television
Unit 21: Plan and Deliver a Pitch
Unit 22: Scripting
All units must be completed in order to successfully finish the course and other than units 1 and 2, are currently subject to change.
Units 1 and 2 are externally assessed through written examination; the rest of the units are internally assessed practical elements.
